I may be adorable (and yes, I know it 😍), but I’m also brand new to your world.
Your house has:
🚪 doors
🛋️ couches
🍽️ kitchens
🚽 bathrooms
👟 shoes
🧸 kids
🔔 doorbells
🚗 cars
📺 TVs
🐕 maybe other pets
This is a LOT for my little puppy brain.
The good news?
I can absolutely learn how to live beautifully in your home if you teach me in a way I understand 🐾💛
Here’s my DIY HSHD Puppy House Manners Program so we can learn together.
🐾 STEP 1: Give Me My Safe Place
Before I can learn your whole house, I need:
🏡 my own little safe zone
This helps me feel calm and secure.
Set up:
🛏️ crate
🧸 one comfort toy
💧 water nearby
🐶 puppy bed
🚧 playpen or gate
🦴 chew toy
This is my:
✨ “puppy apartment”
When I feel safe, I learn faster.
💡 DIY tip:
Let me nap here, eat nearby, and spend quiet time here so I learn this is my calm place.
🚪 STEP 2: Teach Me Room by Room
Please don’t give me the whole house on day one 😅🐾
That’s too much freedom.
Instead:
🚪 teach me one room at a time
Start with:
living room
kitchen
my crate zone
Once I learn:
where to potty
what not to chew
where to settle
how to walk calmly
then give me another room.
This keeps me from:
👟 stealing shoes
🧻 finding paper towels
🪑 chewing furniture
💩 potty accidents
Small wins first 💛
🚽 STEP 3: The Human House Potty Routine
I do NOT naturally know:
🚪 door = potty outside
You teach me with routine.
My schedule:
🌅 immediately after waking
🍽️ after eating
🧸 after play
😴 after naps
🌙 before bed
Take me to the same potty spot every time.
Celebrate BIG when I go:
🎉 “Good potty!!”
I learn through:
repetition
praise
timing
consistency
That’s how I become house-trained fast 🐶✨
🛋️ STEP 4: Teach Me What Furniture Means
The couch looks like a giant puppy bed 😍🛋️
So if you don’t want me on furniture:
be consistent from day one
Don’t allow:
sometimes yes
sometimes no
That confuses me.
Instead teach:
🐶 “place”
Use:
puppy bed
blanket
reward treats
praise
Now I learn:
💛 “my spot is even better”
This is huge for family calmness.
👟 STEP 5: Stop Me From Chewing Human Stuff
I explore with my mouth.
That means:
👟 shoes
📱 chargers
🧸 kids toys
🪑 chair legs
all look amazing 😅
Don’t just say no.
Instead:
🔄 redirect me immediately
Example:
shoe → ❌
chew toy → ✅
Praise when I choose the right item.
That teaches:
💛 “THIS is what belongs to me”
This is one of the fastest ways to build house manners.
🔔 STEP 6: Teach Me Household Sounds
Your home makes weird noises 😳🐾
Things like:
🔔 doorbells
📺 TV
🧹 vacuum
🍳 pots
🚪 garage doors
👶 kids yelling
Help me learn these are normal.
DIY sound confidence training:
start low volume
calm praise
reward calm behavior
never force me toward scary things
Soon:
🐶 your house feels normal and safe
This is HUGE for doodle confidence.
👨👩👧👦 STEP 7: Teach Me Human Family Rules
Every human in the house should use:
the same commands
Good family words:
sit
place
outside
crate
off
gentle
leave it
If everyone uses different words, I get confused 🤯🐾
Consistency helps me learn faster.

I don’t automatically know how to “turn off.”
That’s why I need:

less destructive

better nighttime sleeper
